Interns at Father’s House

Since 2016 we have had the privilege of hosting interns at Father’s House in Shaftesbury.  This has developed into an ongoing programme.  We are looking for more people who have 10 months to offer in service to the Lord.  An Internship with us represents a great opportunity to spend 10 months learning from the Bible, getting your heart healed and being filled and equipped with the Holy Spirit, and learning some important life skills along the way.

The vision

“…go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.  And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

The purpose of the programme is:

• To raise up young people who know their identity in Christ.
• To give real hands on experiences and responsibilities in the church and local community.
• To help the next generation develop who they are in God and to make an impact in the world around them.
• To equip the next generation with a deeper knowledge of God’s Word and a greater confidence in stepping out and applying the love of Christ in everyday situations.

Who is it for?  Anyone who has a love for God and a desire to serve and grow in Him.  You will need to be ready to get on with whatever is given you to do with a good heart.  You will need to be self-motivated and keen to learn.  You will need to be able to be part of a team and get along well with others.

Meet the team:

Flor and Andrew White, Intern Coordinators
Sue Jackson, Director of Studies.
Steven and Rachel Scott, intern mentors and hosts at Christian Centre Lox Lane.

Why join an internship at Father’s House Shaftesbury?

By committing to the programme we expect you will have a deeper experience of God, you will have a chance to serve Him and be exposed to great teaching from a whole range of men and women of God.  You will be ministered to and be expected to step up and minister to the Church and community.  The year will begin with a two-week boot camp at Lox Lane Encounter Centre especially for interns where they will complete team work sessions and an introduction to the core teachings.   Over the year you will also complete Eagles Wings School of ministry, regular Encounter Weekends and take part in a Mission trip.  You will help to plan and take part in fundraising events, seasonal productions, and outreaches.

You will be serving in many areas:

Our heart is to give you opportunities to serve throughout church life and allow you to seek God and find what your purpose is in Him.  We are all uniquely created, and we desire to help and support you in the work that you are doing to equip, challenge and help you to grow in your faith and relationship with God.

There is such a rich heritage here at Father’s House with many established projects, giving opportunities and freedom for you to explore what ignites your passion.

A typical week.

During a typical week, you will attend prayer meetings and Bible teaching sessions, as well as help serve at Open House – a weekly outreach to the community.  You might take part in delivering assemblies in local schools, be involved with prayer and worship sessions in the sanctuary, and help at our Youth group.

You will also be serving at children’s holiday clubs, Starlight Party, ministering in local prisons, hospitals, schools and care homes and much, much more.

Practical information/ FAQs

Where will I live?  You will be living with a church family over the course of the year.

How much will it cost?  The cost of the year will be £6000.  £3000 is payable before or on arrival; this will cover costs of some meals and accommodation and go towards a mission trip.  It will also cover course fees for the Eagles Wings School and Encounter Weekends.  The rest will cover pocket money, other food, travel, entertainment, clothes and essentials.

Can I work while as an Intern? No not really.

I live outside the UK can I come?  Yes, however if you are outside the EU Visas can be difficult and flights will add to the cost of the programme.

Is there financial assistance available?  We have deliberately kept the programme as accessible as possible.  We would expect you to apply your faith to raise the fees as part of your personal growth.  We believe if God wants you on the programme He is able to provide if you ask Him.

Can I bring my car?  Yes.  We hope you will be based in Shaftesbury town and able to walk to most things, but a car is nice to go out on free days.
